Me, Mads & Moodle…….

Hi……..My name is Jen and I am a creative artist I have been running Mads & Moodle for nearly 10 years now alongside being a mum to two amazing children. Madelyn who is nine and is the namesake of my business and Grayson who is now six. I feel so incredibly lucky and privileged to have met and created lots of beautiful keepsakes for so many lovely families over the years. I absolutely love what I do and feel so passionately about creating artworks and beautiful keepsakes that my clients will truly cherish.

My background is in fine Art and after completing a BA honors degree at Norwich Art School. I returned back home to London and incredibly managed to land myself some work experience working in the magical prop making department on Harry Potter at Leavesden studios. I worked in the department for a few months and helped create such wonders as giant pumpkins for Hagrid’s vegetable patch and lots of parts for the chandelier on the Night Bus. After this taste of working in the film industry I was hooked and thankfully I had made a good enough impression that I was asked back to work in the department in a paid position. I continued to work as a prop and model maker for quite a few years working on various different productions including a few more Harry Potter films and other feature films including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Casino Royale, V for Vendetta and many more. You can look me up on Imdb here to find out more about my film career if you’re interested.

It was during this time that I learnt many of the the skills I am now using to create all the wonderful keepsakes for my clients. The materials I now use, in particular the alginate, are the same that are used for taking moulds of actors faces and other body parts to create prosthetic masks and make up pieces.

After having my daughter in December 2013, I decided that the time commitments that the film industry required didn’t fit well with having a new baby. However I still wanted to continue doing something creative as its just part of who I am. So after moulding and casting my daughter Madelyn's feet as a newborn baby and framing them for ourselves to treasure. I decided to create a business that could offer this service to other new parents and families and so Mads & Moodle was born. Year on year my little business is growing and I love creating new bespoke pieces for families, I don’t just cast babies anymore I can create adult casts and even first shoes. I absolutely love what I do and adore a challenge so please do let me know if I can help create something truly special for you.
